Iran

Iran has a long history of political turmoil and civil unrest. Insight into Iran's political history can help provide context for current issues of peace and security throughout the country. Furthermore, a long history of strained diplomatic relations with the West, particularly the United States, makes the possibility of peaceful negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear status less of a reality. With current U.N. Security Council involvement, and a split between some Western countries as to how to properly deal with a potentially uncooperative Iran, the development of Iran's nuclear program as well as its political actions should be closely followed.
